I did it!
A wonderful, silly, laugh out loud conversation with my son turned into a children's book overnight.
I did it I launched my book in one week. Impressive =) but serious it was the most fun I had in months creating this ebook. And I went through many stages but none of them contained any doubt.
Self publishing with Amazon
I couldn't believe I could do it with Amazon. They made the whole process pretty easy. I have to say. I used the Kindle Direct Publishing service. You can check out more here on the service https://kdp.amazon.com/.
It was fun creating my Author's Page using the Amazon Author Central platform. I couldn't wait to share with my family and friends the news I was an Author listed on Amazon.
Check out my author page, Jennifer Marie Lozano.
I was like oh yeah, I did it!
Design with Pictures
I have to say the most creative part of the process was thinking about how it would layout on my ebook. The story is a silly story about my puppy doing some funny actions.
I went through 4-5 versions of how I wanted to lay it out. But in the end I went with a simple format because I really wanted the emphasis on the words and have the reader involved in the book.
The son and mom have a great conversation back and forth. I wanted the puppy to be in the book but not to much until the final pages.
I used my program Pixelmator to create the graphics, got some watercolor splashes from Creative market. Then I began the page layouts.
The Amazon Kindle publishing requires more than 15 pages. My book is only 17. I couldn't stop working on the book. I wanted the project to be complete. I just had the biggest butterflies in my belly with all the excitement.
Couldn't push send yet...
But then when I completed my layout and then creating the pdf version. [that is the format you have to upload into the Amazon Kindle publishing].
The pdf was complete then I sent it out to 4 family/friends. I kept it small just because I was nervous. What if it was a flop? I know Dylan loved it and I loved it but we created it.
I sent the pdf.
I waited. I was really waiting for my one friend in the little world of publishing to give me the "Go for it!"
And She did. And then I pressed send.
and here she is star of my show...Cocoa Puff Lozano
We just love her from the day she came home in the spring of last year.
Thank you everyone for your support. More to follow.
